One of our amazing students Leo is currently facing a significant health challenge with cancer.
We are so incredibly proud of how our school community is already supporting him and his wonderful family.
As a school, Leo and his family are in our thoughts.
Pink Shirt Day 2026- This Friday!
Lead by year 8 student leader Ivy Good, Maraetai Beach School is joining the movement on Pink Shirt Day (Friday 15 May 2026), and encouraging our staff and students to Kōrero Mai, Kōrero Atu, Mauri Tū, Mauri Ora - Speak up, Stand Together, Stop Bullying!
Bullying in Aotearoa is a real problem. We have the third-highest rate of school bullying out of 38 OECD countries and those bullied are far more likely to experience mental health issues.
Pink Shirt Day works to reduce bullying by celebrating diversity and supporting schools, workplaces and communities to be safe, supportive, welcoming and inclusive for everyone.
To celebrate this important kaupapa we’ll be doing fun activities during week 4, colouring competitions, upstander awards and much more.
We will also be fundraising in support of Pink Shirt Day. Donations can be made by scanning the QR codes displayed around the school, donating via Kindo, or visiting our fundraising page directly. All funds raised will go towards our Pink Shirt Day campaign-please follow the link to support:https://fundraise.pinkshirtday.org.nz/maraetai-beach-school
