EOTC

EOTC stands for Education Outside the Classroom

All students are involved in a variety of EOTC events throughout the year designed to build confidence and outdoor skills. EOTC activities include using the local bush and coast. These programmes are designed to meet the needs of various age groups.

Our students (Year 4-8) have  annual camps that changes venue from year to year.

We also take part in a number of events that we believe challenge our students:

  • Beachlands Try-athlon

  • Weet-Bix Try-athlon

  • Mudrun

  • Have A Go Sailing Day

EOTC (Education Outside The Classroom) is an important part of our curriculum at Maraetai Beach School. All of our students become involved in some way with EOTC whether it is in the local area or beyond.

The benefits of EOTC include:

  • Enriching our curriculum

  • Builds connections with each other and environments

  • Often takes children out of their comfort zone and develops resilience.

Junior School

  • Experiences are within the school grounds or local area. They may also go on organised day trips that link with their current learning.

Middle School

  • Odd Years - children have a day camp on the school grounds. This is organised by an outside group and enables children to experience a range of activities.

Senior School

  • Odd Years - children go to camp for 3days/2nights. The venue for this will vary depending on our student numbers and availability, however we try to stay in the Auckland area.

  • Even Years - children have a day experience on school grounds or in the local area. They participate in  a number of activities that build resilience and collaboration.

Intermediate

  • Odd Years - children go to camp for 3 days/2 nights. The venue for this will vary depending on our student numbers and availability, however we try to leave the Auckland area.

  • Even Years - children have 3 days of challenging experiences ranging from rafting at Wero to high ropes.
